Harness Natural Filtration with an Adaptive Reef Algae Turf Scrubber

  • Fight Algae with Algae
  • Helps Remove Nitrate and Phosphate
  • Includes In-Sump Stand for Easy Installation

The Adaptive Reef Algae Turf Scrubbers (ATS) offer a sleek, leak-proof design without traditional PVC pipes, featuring versatile mounting options for ease of installation. The redesigned tray maximizes algae growth by ensuring full screen coverage, while integrated light blockers, removable for growth checks, minimize light spillage.

Positioned above your sump, this ATS includes an in-sump stand and can be connected either via a standalone pump or a manifold to the 3/8” barb fitting, ensuring efficient water flow. Algae benefits from the optimal lighting provided by the included red/blue LED lights, with the system neatly draining through a 1” bottom drain back into the sump below.

What is an Algae Turf Scrubber and How Does it Work?

An algae turf scrubber is a filtration device that uses light to grow algae on a screen. Water is pumped over this screen, where the algae grows and consumes excess nutrients such as nitrates and phosphates from the aquarium water. This process helps control algae growth in the main display aquarium and improves overall water quality. Algae turf scrubbers can also remove other contaminants from the water column, promoting improved water quality.

Advantages of Using an Adaptive Reef ATS:

Easy Harvesting: Designed for easy algae harvesting, simplifying maintenance and saving you time.

Simple Installation: Seamlessly integrates into your existing setup with minimal adjustments needed.

Quality Acrylic Construction: Built from high-quality acrylic, ensuring durability and longevity.

Multi-directional Input Barb: Accommodates various plumbing configurations with its flexible water input.

Built-in Light Blockers: Minimize light spillage and enhance algae growth efficiency.

Leak-free Design: Ensures a clean and safe operation, protecting against water damage.

Installation Instructions & Tips

1. Mount the scrubber over the sump using the included in-sump stand. Ensure it's positioned above the full water line of your sump as the lights are splash proof, but not fully waterproof.

2. Connect the scrubber to a feed pump or manifold. Adjust the flow to ensure the tray is full but not overflowing, to minimize noise.

4. Run the lights 24/7 to seed the screen, then adjust the lighting schedule as needed once seeding is achieved. Turn off any UV sterilizers during the initial seeding period.

5. Each unit includes a bottle of concentrated iron/trace element replacement solution to replenish elements consumed by the algae. It's best to send in an initial ICP analysis to gauge levels before starting.
