Storefront Updates May 26th 2023

We're rapidly approaching the grand opening of our storefront on June 1st and slowly everything is coming together!

We still have a few small details to sort out, mostly things like cleaning up wiring where it's currently visible, but for the most part all of the major things that we'll be able to get done before opening are done.

Store Hours

We'll be open from 10am to 5pm Monday through Saturday and closed on Sunday.

I expect these hours to be temporary until we can hire more staff so we can expand our hours. My goal is to have the store open on Sundays as well and be open until 7pm on weekdays, but that's not something I can accomplish without more help.

Fish System

Our fish system is now fully up and running!

Using acrylic sheets and a dual lock velcro, we've created fully modular and removable stand covers for all of our tanks. They can be easily removed when doing maintenance on the tanks and then snapped back into place.

Our plan is to light this fish rack with AI Blades and put CaribSea LifeRock in the tanks for the fish. Unfortunately, we're still waiting on our shipments for both. Both brands are being brought in so we can offer them for sale, but we also need them for our own tanks.

Hopefully they can get here in time for the grand opening. However, if they don't make it in time, we have a temporary backup plan.

Live Phyto and Copepods

This week we received our first shipment of Live Phyto and Copepods from Reef Solutions out of BC. Our fridge is now stocked with both, and we'll be receiving regular shipments of Live Phyto and Copepods to ensure that we always have a fresh batch ready to go.

TV Menu

We've also now got our TV Menu hung on the wall behind our sales counter. For some of our higher value items such as products from EcoTech and Neptune, we won't have them on the shelves in-store. Rather, we'll have them presented on this menu for customers to request.

I'm still working on creating the menu itself and figuring out how I want it to look. So in the meantime we have it displaying our website!

This TV is a good example of where we need to clean up the wiring before opening.

This will be our last store progress update before the grand opening. That being said, stay tuned as we'll be posting details about special sale events for both online and in-store customers going on throughout the month of June.
