Coral Banded Shrimp

Stenopus hispidus, commonly known as the Coral Banded Shrimp, is a striking marine ornamental known for its bold red-and-white banding, long white antennae, and oversized front claws. It adds movement and personality to a reef aquarium and is often seen tucked into caves, ledges, and shaded rockwork between feeding times.

This species is best suited to aquarists looking for a hardy, eye-catching invert with a bit more character than the typical clean-up crew shrimp. Coral Banded Shrimp are generally compatible with corals and most fish, but they can be territorial toward other shrimp and may prey on smaller ornamental shrimp if space is limited. For that reason, they are usually best kept singly or as a confirmed mated pair.
