Super Storm Clownfish is a captive-bred Amphiprion ocellaris with the exaggerated high-white patterning that defines the Storm line. These fish usually show a white mask, thick connecting barring, and dark edging around the fins, with small orange, mocha, or black windows breaking through the pattern. Each individual develops its own balance of colour and white coverage, which gives Super Storms their collector appeal without changing the familiar care profile of an Ocellaris clownfish.
Because they are captive-bred, Super Storms are already adapted to aquarium life and prepared foods. That makes them a strong option for reef keepers who want a more unusual designer clownfish while keeping the practical temperament and husbandry that make Amphiprion ocellaris such a dependable species.
Why Aquarists Choose Super Storm Clownfish
- Captive-bred Ocellaris clownfish already adjusted to home aquarium conditions
- Bold high-white Storm patterning with dark fin edging and unique individual variation
- Manageable adult size for reef and marine community aquariums
- Readily accepts prepared foods, including pellets and frozen foods
- A standout choice for hobbyists who want a designer clownfish without taking on unusually difficult care
Pattern And Appearance
Super Storm clownfish are prized for their heavy white coverage and smooth, exaggerated barring. Some specimens appear almost fully white at a glance, while others keep more visible colour through the body. Thin dark outlines around the white pattern and fins add contrast and help the markings stand out under reef lighting.
Care And Tank Fit
Like other Ocellaris clownfish, Super Storms do best in stable marine aquariums with rockwork, moderate flow, and a calm place to settle in. A 20 gallon aquarium is the minimum recommended size for a single fish or a compatible pair. They are reef safe with corals and most ornamental invertebrates, although established clownfish may become territorial around their chosen host, spawning site, or corner of the tank as they mature.
These fish are usually best kept singly or as a pair. If you want to form a pair, stay with the same species rather than mixing clownfish species. New Dawn's Pairing Clownfish guide is a useful reference before adding a second clown.
Feeding
Super Storm Clownfish are listed as eating 1mm PE Pellets and should also do well on a varied omnivorous diet built around quality pellets and appropriately sized frozen foods. Consistent feeding helps support body condition, colour, and long-term stability in community tanks.
Anemone Hosting
Like other Amphiprion ocellaris, Super Storms may host an anemone, but they do not need one to thrive. Some individuals quickly adopt a host, while others ignore anemones entirely or choose a coral, rock, or corner of the tank instead. If you want to encourage natural hosting behaviour, see New Dawn's Anemone Hosting guide.

Acclimation
Acclimation
Temperature Match
Place the sealed bag containing the fish or invertebrate into your tank. Allow it to float for 15-20 minutes to gradually equalize the temperature between the bag and your aquarium. This step minimizes stress caused by sudden temperature changes.
Drip Acclimation
Set up a drip acclimation system by using airline tubing. Start a slow siphon from your tank into the bag or bucket containing the fish or invertebrate, allowing water to drip slowly. Acclimate over a period of approximately 30 minutes, gradually increasing the volume of tank water to match salinity and other water parameters.
Check Salinity
Use a refractometer to measure the salinity in the bag or acclimation container. Ensure the salinity matches your tank’s salinity before transferring the fish or invertebrate. Matching salinity helps reduce stress and prevents shock when introducing new animals.
Release Fish/Invert
Gently transfer the fish or invertebrate into the tank, avoiding netting them if possible to reduce physical stress. Allow the animal to swim out on its own if transferring from a container. Discard the acclimation water, as it may contain contaminants.

Foods we use in our fish systems
Farmed, Tested, Trusted
Aquacultured coral, real farm standards, and products we actually use.
New Dawn is built around aquacultured coral, captive-bred marine life, and practical reef support from a real coral farm. Alongside the livestock we grow, we also offer reef products and essentials that reflect the systems, standards, and day-to-day practices behind the farm itself.
Aquacultured Coral
Aquacultured coral is grown in aquarium conditions, which helps it arrive better adapted to life in a reef tank. That often means hardier coral, more predictable performance, and a clearer connection between how it was grown and how it can thrive in a customer’s system.
Farm-used reef products
The reef products we carry are not random add-ons. They are part of the equipment, supplies, and essentials that support our own farm systems and help keep the storefront connected to real reefkeeping practice.
Shipping and pickup
Shipping and local pickup should feel straightforward. We make timing, preparation, and fulfillment expectations clear so you know what to expect before your order is on the way.
Support from the farm
Support should feel direct and practical. From pre-order questions to post-arrival help, New Dawn is built to give reefkeepers a clear path to real assistance when they need it.
